Overview
About zero depreciation cover
In a normal claim, the insurer reduces the value of replaced parts for age and use. This is called depreciation, and you pay that difference.
With a zero depreciation add-on, the insurer does not cut depreciation on covered parts like plastic, rubber, glass and metal (as per policy terms). You pay less from your pocket.
What is covered
- Higher claim amount on replaced parts
- Useful for fibre, plastic and metal parts that are damaged often
- Often available for newer vehicles (check each insurer's age limit)
What is not covered
- Wear and tear and breakdown
- Damage not covered under your base policy
- More claims than the yearly limit set by the insurer
- Very old vehicles where the add-on is not offered
Good to know
Should you take it?
- Good for new and costly cars, and for busy city driving.
- May not be needed for very old vehicles of low value.
- Check how many claims per year are allowed under the add-on.
- Compare the extra premium with the money you could save in one claim.
